Are you a teen plugged into pop culture? Want to make your mark on Seattle’s creative scene? MOPOP’s Youth Advisory Board (A.K.A the YAB) is your chance to amplify teen perspectives at the Museum of Pop Culture.
As a YAB member, you won’t just listen to the conversation—you'll help write the script. Collaborate with local musicians, artists, and fellow innovators to bring your boldest ideas to life. From promoting events like Sound Off! (our epic 21 and under music showcase) to co-designing displays with the curators, your input will spotlight the voices, visions, and creativity of your generation.
Deadline alert: July 24. Mark it, highlight it, tattoo it (okay, maybe not the last one).
Check out what MOPOP's YAB has been up to on Instagram @MOPOPyouth. Or reach out with questions at YAB@MOPOP.org.
Students between the ages of 15–18 can apply to YAB and may serve on YAB for up to three years.
YAB collaborates with local musicians, artists, youth arts leaders, community groups, and MOPOP staff to help develop MOPOP’s youth voice.
YAB promotes Sound Off! and screens submissions as part of the artist selection process.
YAB helps with the production of landmark annual events such as the Science Fiction + Fantasy Short Film Festival, Sound Off!, and more. YAB members also get an inside peek at museum exhibitions and special events.
Yes! YAB works with various departments across MOPOP to design and contribute to unique projects. One such project was curating a 10x10 exhibition wall featuring three commissioned pieces by youth artists.
YAB members have the opportunity to work in collaboration with MOPOP’s social media team to create content across MOPOP’s social channels.
YAB meets every other week during the school year.
